Renault will build its so-called [euro]5,000 car in Russia as well as Romania.

Chairman Louis Schweitzer said Renault would invest [euro]230 million to assemble and market the car, code-named X90, in Russia starting in mid-2005. Renault will increase capacity at its Avtoframos plant, near Moscow, to 60,000 vehicles a year.

The price of the Russian model will likely exceed the [euro]5,000 price target. Schweitzer said the car could cost [euro]7,000 to [euro]10,000, more than top-level Ladas but cheaper than many ...
