Who says diesels won't sell over there?
To the Editor:
THERE COULD be a surprise on the horizon for Keith Crain. In his fascinating column titled "Diesels in US cars? Ridiculous" (February 10 edition) he suggests that diesels don't make much sense in the USA beyond large pickups.
I disagree. A nation in love with huge amounts of lazy torque could take very quickly to the latest generation of large, silky diesel powerplants. It's just a perception problem. The UK had a similar problem for many years but has now got diesel in its blood.
