Nonexistent auto industry means Iraq relies on imports.(statistics for Iraqi automotive imports)

Iraq has no auto assembly operations so it must import all vehicles into the country, says Tim Armstrong, analyst for Global Insight Automotive in London.

Despite sanctions, Iraq has been allowed to import some vehicles under the United Nations' food for oil program, Armstrong said.
