Automotive News Europe, April, 2003
VICTOR GAUNTLETT, who died recently at age 60, was a hero of the British motor industry. Gauntlett bought Aston Martin in 1981 and ran the tiny company in Newport Pagnell until selling a controlling interest to Ford in 1987. He eventually sold all of Aston to Ford, but stayed on as chairman until 1991.
Gauntlett deserves great credit for keeping Aston alive during those six years; eventually bringing out a new Virage - the first new Aston in 20 years.
