Saab will introduce a smaller 9-2 based on the Subaru Impreza in the USA and Canada in May 2004. But the car will not arrive in Europe until it is redesigned in about 2006.
The first Saab 9-2 will be a lightly modified five-door Impreza wagon with flat-four engines and four-wheel drive. It is an interim solution to Saab's need for a range below the 9-3.
