Suzuki to build Fiat SUV in Hungary; Compact off-roader was designed and engineered by Italdesign-Giugiaro.(News)

Fiat Auto will sell a new compact sport-utility starting in 2005 that will be sourced from the Magyar Suzuki plant in Esztergom, Hungary.

The development is part of a Suzuki strategy to triple output at the factory from 85,000 vehicles last year to 260,000 in 2006. Those vehicles will form the backbone of a plan to expand Suzuki's European sales from 190,000 last year to around 340,000 by the middle of the decade.
