Mitsubishi is relying on a re-engineered Grandis minivan in 2004 to give its sales a much-needed boost in both Japan and Europe.
"It will be a global player," said Mitsubishi President Rolf Eckrodt. The name Grandis will be used worldwide.
Mitsubishi will launch the Grandis in Europe in the autumn of 2004, after the mid-year launch of the Colt. Later the Grandis will become the third Mitsubishi-badged vehicle to be assembled in China. Other overseas markets may follow, but the USA seems unlikely for the compact minivan.
