Cutbacks at Valeo
Valeo plans major job cuts in Spain and Portugal as part of an effort to reduce production costs in its electronics and connective systems operations.
Most affected will be the French supplier's Abrera, Spain, site, which supplies harnesses to Seat's Martorell plant. The plant, which currently employs 450, will lose 406 jobs. Abrera will retain activities in r&d, quality, marketing and logistics.
Another 153 jobs out of 494 will also be cut at Valeo's plant in Santo Tirso, Portugal.
