BMW expects a new diesel version too boost sales of the Mini, but that may aggravate capacity limitations at the Oxford, England, plant.

"More than two-thirds of the diesel sales will come on top [of gasoline engine models]," said BMW spokesman Thomas Gubitz.

The Mini diesel goes on sale on June 14 in Europe. Despite limited availability - diesel Minis won't be sold in the USA or Asia - BMW expects the new engine version to account for up to 10 percent of worldwide Mini sales. Forecasts vary between 10,000 and 20,000 sales in a full year. ...
