Four months into his new job, Fiat group CEO Giuseppe Morchio is beginning to make an impact. He has tightened management control, started a renewed quality drive and given the 180,000 employees of the embattled automotive group some cautious optimism about the future.

He has also launched a E19.5 billion four-year restructuring plan and is currently trying to convince the investment community that there's life in the Fiat group yet. "My first responsibility is to build up the credibility of Fiat," Morchio told Automotive News Europe.
