Innovation: Electronic steering overrides driver in emergencies
The ZF Lenksysteme active steering system in the new BMW 5 series is the biggest step so far toward genuine steer-by-wire.
Due to EU safety regulations and the slow development of 42-volt electrical systems, fully electronic steering is still several years away.
