Leading websites in Europe such as MSN and Yahoo! are seeing a surge in the amount of online advertising from carmakers.
In the 12 months to February 2003, MSN saw 53 percent growth in European ad revenue from the automotive sector at a time when ad revenue has declinded for traditional media like TV and newspapers.
Cars have grown to become MSN Europe's fourth biggest product category in terms of digital revenue, making up 5 percent of total sales.
The web's ability to let users compare brands makes the Internet more interactive than other media.
