French coachbuilder Heuliez was given new life when Opel awarded it the contract to build the folding-top for the future Tigra coupe cabriolet planned for 2004.

Heuliez has been making the top of the hugely successful Peugeot 206 CC, but lost the contract for the 307 CC to Germany's CTS Car Top System. Peugeot builds both models in-house, but the tops are large, high-volume modules.

The independent group has been a family concern for five generations, so the Opel contract gave the company a huge boost.
