Martin Leach would take over a major upheaval occurring at Fiat Auto if he became the new CEO.
The troubled Italian carmaker is undergoing the latest big restructuring effort launched by Fiat Group CEO Giuseppe Morchio.
Morchio is tightening management control and stepping up an across-the-board quality drive.
Fiat sources say Morchio will also reverse a decentralization program designed to control costs that was launched just two years ago.
