Premier Automotive Group Chairman Mark Fields talked with Automotive News Europe's Bradford Wernle about prospects for the rest of 2003 and the group's strategy in Europe.

You made a modest profit in the second quarter. What's the outlook for the rest of the year?

Our objective this year is to be profitable, to be in the black. We lost about $900 million (currently [euro]830million) the year before. Improvement will be based on contributions from all the brands.

Will you make a Land Rover or Jaguar in the United States?

I never say never. In the near to medium term, we have assets here in the UK. I want to make maximum use of those assets. Clearly down the road, our association with Ford does give us options. But nothing is...
