Ford has already started a second shift at its Focus plant here to reduce backlogged sales orders that reached 8,000 within six months of its opening last summer.
Production is running at 25,000 cars a year. Plant Manager Murray Gilbert believes output could reach 10 times that. He saw that pattern in Taiwan. He started production for Ford there at 40,000 and it grew to 400,000. This is the ninth Ford plant for the Australian.
