General Motors will add production capacity in the booming China market "every way we can," CEO Rick Wagoner said.
GM is open to buying plants, as it did when it purchased 50 percent of a former Daewoo plant in the northeast China province of Shandong last December. GM's partner, Shanghai Automotive Industries Corp., bought the other 50 percent.
GM also has engaged in on-again, off-again negotiations for another Daewoo plant in the province. GM could also build new factories, Wagoner said.
