Industry: Email Alert RSS FeedSeat plans longer Altea.(News)(Brief Article)
Automotive News Europe, November, 2003
Seat will build a longer, wider version of the Altea to combat criticism of the compact minivan's size.
A Seat source confirmed the plans but would not provide the new dimensions.
The source did say the Altea will compete with the Renault Grand Scenic, which is 4493mm long, 1810mm wide and has a wheelbase of 2736mm. The near-production concept version of the Altea that Seat debuted at the IAA in Frankfurt was criticized for being too short. It is 4292mm long, 1812mm wide and has a 2578mm wheelbase.
