Trying to salvage a stalled deal to produce heavy trucks with Hyundai Motor, DaimlerChrysler executives stressed that they want to settle a dispute with the Korean automaker over an unrelated venture in China.

Hyundai suspended talks on the proposed truck making venture in late October after D/C announced a $1 billion ([euro]820 million) deal with Beijing Automotive Industry Corp. to build Mercedes sedans in China.

Hyundai reacted angrily, saying the deal violates an exclusive contract it has with the Chinese company to produce its own cars in China. ...
