How much does the new Volvo S40 sedan have in common with the Ford Focus C-Max? A little or a lot, says S40 project manager Peter Ewerstrand.

The top-of-the-line S40 T5 has roughly 25 percent common components with the Focus C-Max, including Volvo's top sound system.

But further down the range the S40 variant that comes powered by a 2.0-liter common-rail diesel shares 60 percent of components.
