PSA wins tacit exclusion zone in Slovakia; Verbal agreement on plant to keep rivals at least 100km away.(News)(Peugeot S.A.)

PSA/Peugeot-Citroen received a 100-kilometer competition exclusion zone from the Slovak government when it selected Trnava as its first eastern European manufacturing site, an official close to the talks said.

PSA's [euro]700-million plant plant will be located 50km from Volkswagen AG's existing plant in the Slovakian capital of Bratislava.

The French carmaker's facility will have 3,500 workers and a capacity to build 300,000 cars a year when it begins production in 2006.

Other automakers will be barred from setting up operations within the exclusion zone and siphoning off ...
