A US court ruled this month that Martin Leach didn't resign from Ford, but was effectively fired. Thus, a clause in his contract that prevented Leach from moving to another auto company for two years has been deemed unenforceable.
The ruling comes too late for the former Ford of Europe president. The job he wanted - to head Fiat Auto - has come and gone. But the verdict says something about Ford and the way it has managed its European division in the last 25 years.
