Mercedes-Benz is plotting to build a mid-engine sports car that would rival Ferrari and Lamborghini models.
The supercar would cost significantly less than M-B's [euro]375,000 front-engine SLR McLaren. Priced at [euro]150,000 to [euro]200,000, the new Mercedes model would be in the same range as the Ferrari 360 Modena and the Lamborghini Gallardo.
If approved, the new supercar could go on sale in late 2007.
