The information could help the auto industry and EU regulators determine better ways to protect motorists, pedestrians and the environment.
Automakers argue that pending EU rules will add unnecessary costs, drive new-car prices substantially higher and hurt sales volumes. The EU believes they will save lives and reduce environmental damage.
