Despite Daimler-Chrysler's rift with Mitsubishi, the German automaker's expansion plans in China will depend heavily on its struggling partner.
After years of low volumes and losses, Beijing Jeep Corp. - a joint venture launched two decades ago by the former Chrysler Corp. - finally is making money, thanks to strong sales of Mitsubishi models.
The popular Mitsubishi Outlander has helped Beijing Jeep claim first place in China's SUV market.
