Shuhei Toyoda, 56, is retiring from Toyota's board, leaving his cousin, Akio Toyoda, 48, as the family member most likely to rise to the position of president at Japan's largest carmaker.

Shuhei Toyoda currently heads Toyota's operations in Europe and holds senior managing director status at the parent company.
