The continued strength of the euro has not spurred many European companies to buy US auto parts suppliers.
Investment bankers say that trend is unlikely to change.
"Higher US labor costs are a deterrent to the Europeans, at a time when eastern Europe and Asia have become very attractive because of lower costs and high growth prospects," says investment banker Michael Benson.
