VW extends deal to build Ford model
PALMELA, Portugal - Volkswagen will continue to build the Ford Galaxy minivan until the end of 2005 at its plant in Palmela, near Setubal.
The Galaxy has been built under contract at the plant alongside the VW Sharan and Seat Alhambra since the start of 1999, when VW bought Ford's stake in the Autoeuropa joint venture. The original contract ran until the end of this year.
"I have negotiated an extension of the Ford Galaxy contract until the end of 2005," said Emilio Saenz, executive director of the plant.
