Western suppliers pay more for their raw materials and electricity in China than local companies, says a CEO for an Italian partsmaker.
Because of this, "Our discs built in China are from 30 percent to 40 percent more expensive than comparable products locally built by Chinese suppliers," says Brembo Chairman and CEO Alberto Bombassei.
The cost discrepancy is one reason why some western components companies are not keen to go to China, he says.
