Suppliers and manufacturers are counting on cleaner running gasoline engines to help them meet tougher emissions targets that take effect in four years.
A new generation of high-pressure direct injection gasoline engines from partsmakers such as Robert Bosch, Siemens VDO Automotive and Magneti Marelli promises fuel efficiency gains of up to 20 percent across the fleet average.
