The five Baltic and Mediterranean countries new to the EU - Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Cyprus and Malta - produce no cars and few parts.

Collectively, they account for 1.8 percent of the enlarged EU's 450 million citizens, but only 0.4 percent of car sales.
