PSA/Peugeot-Citroen's plant here in central England is an example of the French automaker's effort to bring all of its factories worldwide up to the same level of best practice.
The goal at Ryton, which is contracted to build the Peugeot 206 small car until 2008, is to boost best practice to 73 percent this year from 59 percent in 2003.
Best practice is measured through the development of a series of benchmarks for the production process.
