Renault plans to sell a hybrid car on the mass market.
The move would bring the French manufacturer into competition with Toyota and Honda, the only automakers currently selling cars with full hybrid powertrains in Europe.
Pierre-Alain de Smedt, Renault's executive vice president in charge of research, engineering, purchasing and manufacturing, said Renault would launch a hybrid-engine car soon, but declined to give an exact date or say where the car will be sold.
