Korean automaker Kia started construction last month on an assembly plant in Zilina, Slovakia, ending speculation that the project was delayed.
The Slovakian government was far behind schedule to purchase all the plant site's property from thousands of private owners. It planned to complete that task by June, but the process dragged on into autumn.
"We are starting the actual construction work for the plant near the northern town of Zilina," said Chris Dore, a Kia spokesman in Seoul on October 14.
