Magneti Marelli and Siemens VDO Automotive are joining forces to challenge Robert Bosch's dominance in supplying diesel injection systems.
Marelli hopes the cooperation pact will boost its European market share to 2.7 percent in 2007 and to 7 percent in 2009, said Francesco Ausiello, who heads business development for the company's diesel operations.
In the long term, Marelli aims to win the same 15 percent share for diesel that it has in gasoline fuel injection systems.
