Audi may have pulled the trigger too quickly on Axel Mees, who was vice president in charge of Audi of America for only eight months.
Abruptly fired November 17 for publicly criticizing Volkswagen's ill-fated foray into the luxury segment, Mees is a strong believer in the Audi brand.
Mees, who took over at Audi of America on March 1, relished being Audi's brand leader in the US and Canada.
