Peugeot's modest sales targets for its face-lifted 607 executive sedan underscore the French automakers' failure to break into the German-dominated premium market.

Peugeot expects to sell 25,000 607s worldwide next year, compared with 22,000 this year. Through October Peugeot has sold 12,106 607s in western Europe, the car's top sales market.

That's better than Renault, which sold 6,552 units of its 3-year-old Vel Satis up-market sedan in the region during the first 10 months.
