Honda will move CR-V to the US

TOKYO - Honda will shift production of the CR-V from Swindon, England, to one of its US plants in Ohio when it redesigns the SUV, probably in 2006.

The Swindon plant will add diesel-powered vehicles. It will start assembling a diesel version of the CR-V for sale in Europe early next year and a diesel-powered, redesigned Civic in early 2006.

Honda has not decided which Ohio plant - Marysville or East Liberty - will get the CR-V. Production volume of the SUV in Ohio also is uncertain.

The shift is part of a production increase in the US.
