Honda plans a small car for US

DETROIT - Honda plans to sell in the US a variation of its Honda Fit small car, which is sold in Europe as the Jazz.

The Japanese automaker will target young car buyers with the model, just as Toyota did with its US-only Scion brand.

"Toyota has done a good job with the Scion," said Dick Colliver, executive vice president of American Honda Motor Co.

Honda executives have said the company will bring a car smaller than the Civic to the US, but until now they have not identified it.
