After surviving a 30-year boom-and-bust cycle, Ford Motor Co. is determined not to tumble back into its old bad habits, human resources chief Joe Laymon says.

Three years into the automaker's restructuring plan, CEO Bill Ford has his executive team - and stick-to-the-basics priorities - in place, Laymon told the Automotive News World Congress.

"I honestly believe cash is king with [Bill Ford]," Laymon said. "And so is our focus on the fundamentals."
