Valeo CEO Thierry Morin has made good on his long-standing pledge to make the supplier stronger in electronics - the fastest-growing segment in auto components.
With the acquisition of French-based Johnson Controls Engine Electronics Department (JCEED) for [euro]330 million, Valeo gets access to a new field - that it says is highly profitable - and to a team whose expertise will benefit the company's existing products down to engine cooling fans and windshield wipers.
