Renault, Nissan keep plants apart

GENEVA - Renault and Nissan want to avoid manufacturing cars in the same plants, a Renault executive said.

"Total integration [between the two companies' manufacturing operations] is not the way forward," said Georges Douin, Renault's head of product, planning and international affairs, during an interview at the Geneva auto show. "On the whole Nissan plants will continue to manufacture Nissan cars and Renault plants will make Renault cars, and any departure from that rule will be marginal."
