Automotive engineering consultancy Ricardo is benefiting from the Chinese government's drive to bring in new technology.

Ricardo officially opens its China office in Shanghai, May 24, but already the English company has projects worth more than [pounds sterling]5 million ([euro]7.3 million) in China, says Stephen Clarke, Ricardo executive vice president in China.

"Already, our customers are asking us when we will have project managers in China," says Clarke, head of the firm's Shanghai office.
