Joe Greenwell will take charge of Ford Motor Co.'s relations with Europe's lawmakers and official bodies.

Greenwell, 54, will step down as CEO of Jaguar and Land Rover to take on the newly created role of vice president of government affairs for Ford Europe and Ford's Premier Automotive Group. He starts the new job September 1.

Greenwell will report to Mark Fields, Ford Europe and PAG's executive vice president, and to Steve Biegun, Ford Motor Co.'s vice president for international governmental affairs.
