When the Chrysler group contracted Magna Steyr of Graz, Austria, to build the European version of its new Jeep Grand Cherokee, it also needed to find local suppliers. For Europe, the Grand Cherokee has a V-6 3.0-liter diesel engine built at Mercedes-Benz' engine factory in Berlin. German powertrain specialist Gustav Wahler supplies exhaust gas recirculation components.
