After years of strained relations with its suppliers, the Chrysler group is adopting a cozier purchasing model that will let selected top suppliers have new contracts without competitive bidding.
The purchasing model was devised and launched in North America but is being considered for global application throughout DaimlerChrysler.
"We're looking to spread it," said Peter Rosenfeld, Chrysler group executive vice president for procurement and supply.
