Ford Europe could be the first European automaker to sell a vehicle with a micro hybrid powertrain.
Micro hybrids typically feature start-stop technology combined with regenerative braking. The energy recovered from braking is stored in a battery that can be tapped to help support other systems in the car.
Ford expects to introduce a micro hybrid powertrain in two years, possibly on the Galaxy large minivan. It has developed the technology with US supplier Visteon.
