VM Motori to boost diesel capacity.(automobile industry)

VM Motori is increasing its manufacturing capacity to launch two new diesel engines.

The company is convinced that diesel sales will continue to grow globally despite the first signs of weakening demand for the powertrain in western Europe.

VM Motori this year will build 97,000 engines, up 40 percent from the production record of 69,000 units it set last year.

The company is installing a new production line that by the end of 2006 will boost annual capacity to 130,000 units from the current 100,000.
