Honda's latest lower-medium platform, which debuts on the new Europe-only Civic hatchback, will underpin more cars in the Japanese automaker's lineup and possibly even an all-new global model.

"This platform has a broader future," Christoph Rust, Honda Europe's product spokesman, said at the launch of the new Civic here.

Rust did not want to comment on other applications but Honda sources say that the next CR-V medium SUV and FR-V medium minivan will use the new platform.
