European auto retailing shares rose in the first quarter of 2006, as attention focused on the outcome of a major UK takeover battle in the second quarter.
A quarter has passed and Pendragon Plc and Lookers Plc are still fighting.
But whereas three months ago the two UK retailers were battling for the control of a third one - Reg Vardy - this time it's a different fight: Pendragon is bidding for Lookers, after swallowing up family-run Reg Vardy.
